Louisa Ellis

   Professional Chef & Masterchef Finalist

Louisa studied Hospitality at Barnfield College, completing her NVQ Level 1 and Level 2 over two years. During her time at college, she developed the core skills and confidence needed to begin her career in the industry, building a strong foundation for her future.

After leaving college, Louisa quickly progressed into professional kitchens, working in multi-rosette hotels and restaurants. Her passion for food and determination to succeed helped her gain valuable experience early on, setting her apart in a highly competitive industry.

Louisa’s career reached a national audience when she appeared on MasterChef in 2017. Her creativity and eye-catching dishes saw her reach the final three. She returned to the competition in 2020, where she went on to win the title, showcasing just how far her skills had developed.

Since then, Louisa has continued to build an exciting and diverse career. She has delivered tasting menus at events across the UK, taken part in restaurant takeovers, and worked in two- and three-Michelin-starred kitchens. She has also launched her own Yuzu & Sichuan Peppercorn botanical gin and now runs her own business, Chef Louisa Ellis Ltd, creating bespoke dining experiences in Nottingham.

Alongside her work as a private chef, Louisa has expanded her portfolio even further. She has launched her own Yuzu & Sichuan Peppercorn botanical gin and developed her own range of seasonings, as well as working as a brand ambassador within the food industry. She has also been invited back into the industry as a judge for prestigious competitions such as Toque d’Or, recognising her growing influence as a leading chef.

More recently, Louisa has continued to raise her profile on a national stage, competing on Great British Menu and representing the Central region—further showcasing her creativity and progression as a chef.

Reflecting on her time at college, Louisa said:
“I’m really glad I chose college. I loved food technology at school and was lucky to continue doing what I enjoyed most while developing my skills further. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do after school, but college gave me direction and something to work towards. Now, 10 years on, I have my own business and hope to inspire the next generation and give something back to the community.”
