General Enrolment FAQs

  • What is enrolment?
    Enrolment is the process that confirms your place at Barnfield College. During enrolment you will confirm what course you will be taking and at what level. Enrolling at college is the last step in your application process, once you’ve completed your enrolment, you will then be a Barnfield College student.

  • When can I enrol?
    Enrolment commences from GCSE results day onwards (Thursday 20 August), we’ll be in touch by post and email with more information to those who have applied.

  • How can I enrol?
    It will depend on where you are in our application process. Click here to enter our enrolment hub. Just select the tile that applies to you and find out how you can enrol. 

  • How many courses can I enrol on?
    You can only enrol on one study programme. The A Level study programme includes 3 A Level courses, for all other study programmes you can only enrol on one course. When you enrol you need to choose your preferred option. 

  • Can I change my course?
    Yes, it is not too late. Browse our courses here and apply online. Then drop into campus from GCSE results day (Thursday 20 August) to enrol. You can complete your college application and enrolment on the same day - securing your place in one visit.

  • Are you open GCSE results day?

    Yes, you can visit us on campus from GCSE results day (Thursday 20 August). If you have any questions or want to discuss your plans for September, our team of expert advisors are on hand to help. 

  • What to do if you did not achieve the grades you wanted?

    We offer a wide range of courses at various entry levels, so no matter how your results turn out - whether you meet your predicted grades, exceed expectations, or fall a little short - you can be confident that we’ll have a course that’s right for you.

    If your results weren’t what you hoped for, drop in from GCSE results day. Our team will be here to help you explore your options and find the best path forward.

Offer Holder Enrolment FAQs

  • What is an on-campus enrolment session?
    If you have an offer on a course, you will be invited to an on-campus enrolment session before the start of term to finalise your enrolment. In this session you will meet your tutors, learn about your timetable and collect your ID badge. You will receive the date and time of your on-campus enrolment session in your joining pack.

    This session lasts 1-2 hours, parents/carers are welcome to wait on site. 

  • What do I need to bring to my on-campus enrolment session?
     

    Please bring the following with you to your on-campus enrolment session:

    • Results and certificates (digital copies are accepted)
    • Photo ID (if you’re not a British national you’ll need residency documents)
    • Any other supporting information (e.g. EHCP)

     

  • What should I do if I can't make my on-campus enrolment session?
    If you're unable to make your on-campus enrolment session please contact our Admissions team on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 01582 569555 to let us know as soon as possible. It is important you still complete your online pre-enrolment form to confirm your acceptance of your offer. If you do not complete your online pre-enrolment form and do not notify us that you can not attend your on-campus enrolment session we will assume you are no longer interested and your place will be released. 

Applicant Enrolment FAQs

  • What is drop-in enrolment?
    From 9am on GCSE results day (Thursday 20 August) we are open for drop-in enrolment, where you will be able to complete your enrolment process in 4 simple steps. You will leave the same day with your place secured and everything you need to get started. 

    For applied students this is how to secure your place simply drop in to see us on campus from GCSE results day (Thursday 20 August) onwards to complete your enrolment. 

  • What do I need to bring for drop-in enrolment?
     

    Please bring the below with you to enrol:

    • Results and certificates (digital copies are accepted)
    • Photo ID (if you’re not a British national you’ll need residency documents)
    • Any other supporting information (e.g. EHCP)

  • What are the opening times for drop-in enrolment?
     

    From GCSE Results Day (Thursday 20 August) onwards we'll be open:

    Monday - Friday - 9:00am - 4:30pm*
    Saturday 22 August - 9:30am - 12:30pm

     *We will be closed on Monday 31 August for the Bank Holiday.

    Please arrive by 3pm to allow enough time to secure your place in one visit.

Start Of Term FAQs

  • When will I receive my timetable?

    Term starts from Thursday 3 September 2026, your first day and timetable will be released to you after you have completed your enrolment and group details are finalised.

    Depending on your course timetable, your first day will be one of the following Thursday 3, Friday 4, Monday 7, Tuesday 8 or Wednesday 9 September.

     

  • When will I receive my ID card?
    You’ll receive your ID badge when you attend drop-in enrolment or your on-campus enrolment session, for returning students new badges will be available for collection on your first day back. 

  • What is a DBS check?
    If you are enrolling on Level 2 Early Years Education, T Level Education and Early Years or Level 3 Health and Social Care, you are required to undertake an Industry Placement as part of your course. To attend this Industry Placement you will require a criminal record check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
