Harrison Jones

   Label Manager

Meet Harrison, a Music Technology alumni who has turned his BTEC qualification into a promising career as a Label Manager

Harrison studied Music Technology and chose this course as he wanted to be a music producer. He knew that choosing a creative course with a lot of collaboration between students could lead to studying at university.

His tutors allowed him to work and learn in a truly creative space. He was able to explore themes and processes with guidance and ultimately learn what he wanted to do within the sector. He also enjoyed two weeks of work experience that gave him his first insight into the business side of music.

The course helped him prepare for working in many ways, from the basics of understanding music production and engineering to networking and talking to other likeminded people.

He has been working in the Music Business for 6 years now, working across multiple areas of the industry. He is now a Label Manager at The Other Songs Records, heading up the record label, signing new acts and managing the release campaigns.

Harrison advice to those on a similar journey is: “You should go to gigs and meet people, take interest, and hold good conversations. Show what you are keen about and use your age to your advantage. The industry is built on young talent but run by experienced professionals who are always seeking to connect”.
