- Entry Criteria
To study this course, students are required to have a Level 3 Plumbing qualification or have considerable knowledge or experience in the plumbing and/or water industry.
- What will I study?
This one-day theory based course will be delivered in our new £38million Construction and Engineering Centre by our professional plumbing tutors.
During this programme you will learn:
- The requirements of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and Water Bylaws
- The role of the regulation in preventing, waste, misuse, undue consumption, contamination and erroneous measurement
- The industry requirements for water fittings
- The design and installation requirements for a water supply system
- The requirements for the prevention of cross connection to unwholesome water
- The categories for backflow fluid prevention
- The consumption limitations for washing machines, dishwashers and other appliances
- The installation requirements for hot and cold water services
- The types of bath, sink, showers taps location and installation requirements
- The installation requirements for WC’s, flushing devices and urinals approved for use
- The requirements for water supplied for outside use.
- The correct technical terminology
- The suitability of materials and substances in contact with water
How will you be assessed?
This is a theory-based course and at the end of the programme you will be complete an online or paper-based assessment.
- Future Prospects
Completing the Water Regulations course enables you to work or continue working across the UK water industry, confidently installing plumbing systems and water fittings in full compliance with UK Building Regulations.
You will receive a City & Guilds certificate and a Water Regulations Site Card, demonstrating your professional competence. This qualification also makes you eligible to apply for Approved Contractor status through one of the UK’s recognised Approved Contractor Schemes opening the door to greater trust, more opportunities and higher-value work.
