Our Vented & Unvented Domestic Hot Water Systems course is designed to provide you with the technical knowledge and practical understanding required to safely install, service, and maintain hot water systems in domestic settings. This course covers both traditional vented systems and modern unvented systems, which are widely used across the UK.

This City & Guilds accredited two-day course is suitable for practicing plumbers looking to upskill or advance their career or wish to learn about the installation,?commissioning and safety aspects of hot water systems for domestic use in accordance with UK Building Regulations.

  • Entry Criteria

    To study this course, students are required to have a Level 3 Plumbing qualification or have considerable knowledge or experience in the plumbing and/or water industry.

  • What will I study?

    This two-day practical course will be delivered in our new £38million Construction and Engineering Centre by our professional plumbing tutors.

    During this programme you will learn:

    • The types and configurations of vented/unvented hot water systems including the design installation requirements
    • The types and operation of specialist components used in hot water systems
    • The design requirements for hot water systems
    • The installation and safety features of hot water systems and components
    • The requirements for the installation of cold water components associated with hot water systems
    • How to diagnose faults in hot water systems and components
    • The commissioning requirements of hot water systems and components in accordance with design specifications
    • How to carry out the commissioning of hot water systems
    • How to confirm that unvented hot water systems have been serviced in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions

    How will you be assessed?

    This course combines practice and theory modules and at the end of the programme you will be assessed with a practical assessment and an online/paper based assessment.

  • Future Prospects

    On completion of this course you will be able to confidently work with a range of domestic hot water systems using safe working practices and complying with regulatory standards.

    You will also be issued with a City & Guilds certificate and will be eligible to apply for approved status with one of the UK recognised Approved Contractor Schemes.
