This course is ideal for plumbing and heating engineers seeking to gain a recognised qualification in the safe installation and servicing of unvented domestic hot water systems. It ensures operatives are fully compliant with legislation and standards, including Approved Document G. Successful learners will be better equipped to meet industry demands and may progress into specialist plumbing roles. HWSS has been developed to ensure operatives are aware of how to comply with Approved Document G (ADG) 2016 when carrying out work on hot water systems.

  • Entry Criteria

    This course is for experienced plumbing and heating operatives aiming to work with unvented hot water systems.

    Specific Entry Requirements:
    • Experience in installing domestic cold and hot water systems
    • Recognised competency in conventional fuels (gas, oil, or solid fuel), or
    • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or equivalent experience/qualification

  • What will I study?

    The programme will provide an extensive insight into Unvented Hot Water Cylinders and will prepare candidates for end of programme examinations.

    Upon completion of the course the candidate will be able to:
    • Recognise the various forms of hot water supplies
    • State the functional requirements of Unvented Domestic Hot Water systems
    • Design an Unvented system to comply with Part G of the Building Regulations
    • Carry out commissioning of an Unvented System State and rectify common causes of faults in an Unvented System
