  • Entry Criteria

    To join this course, you will need:
    • A Level 1 qualification in any subject (this demonstrates your ability to study at this level), and
    • A strong interest in barbering / hairdressing and developing practical skills in the industry

    We would also recommend (but this is not essential):
    • A Level 1 qualification in Hairdressing, and/or experience of working in a salon or barbering environment

  • What will I study?

    This qualification is about the precision cutting skills involved in barbering to achieve a variety of looks and neckline finishes for men using club cutting, scissors over comb, clippers over comb, thinning and freehand techniques. In this qualification, razors will only be used for removing unwanted hair outside the outline shape.

    The learner will be assessed on 10 practical observations, creating a variety of different looks to meet a specific range.

    The learner will need to show clear understanding of: Health and Safety legislation How to work safely and hygienically Growth factors of the hair The use of cutting techniques Knowledge of cutting equipment and its uses Know how to communicate hair maintenance and management information to clients
