Our Aeronautical Engineering students recently had an incredible opportunity to take part in National Manufacturing Day with Jaltek Systems, gaining first-hand insight into the fast-paced world of advanced manufacturing and electronics.
The visit offered students a rare chance to see innovation in action and understand how modern technology supports industries such as aerospace, automotive, and defence. Guided by the highly skilled team from Advanced Rework Technology Limited, students took part in practical workshops where they learned about precision soldering and assembling electronic components onto motherboards. For many, it was the first time experiencing the intricate work that goes into producing high-quality electronic systems.
The hands-on activities not only developed their technical awareness but also highlighted the importance of accuracy, problem-solving, and teamwork in professional engineering environments. Students were able to connect their classroom learning to real-world applications, deepening their appreciation for the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define modern manufacturing.
The day also provided a valuable glimpse into potential future career pathways, showing how aeronautical skills can be applied across a wide range of advanced engineering sectors. It was an inspiring experience that sparked curiosity and confidence in students looking to pursue technical careers after college.
Barnfield College would like to extend a huge thank you to Jaltek Systems and Advanced Rework Technology Limited for their time, expertise, and enthusiasm in supporting our students. Opportunities like this are an essential part of helping our students see how their studies translate into real industry practice.
