Our Level 3 Public Services students recently visited Luton Fire Station for an informative and engaging educational experience. The visit began with a talk delivered by Volunteering Manager, Janet Brennan, who provided valuable insight into the importance of fire safety, protection, and prevention within the community. The students were able to develop their understanding of how the Fire and Rescue Service works proactively to reduce risk and protect lives.
Following the talk, the students were given a guided tour of the fire station, where they were shown key facilities, including the smoke rooms and a mock fire safety house. These practical demonstrations allowed the students to see realistic training environments used by firefighters.
During the visit, operational firefighters gave our students an in-depth insight into the different roles within the service and explained what a typical day in the life of a firefighter involves. The students engaged positively throughout the visit and gained a clear understanding of the skills, commitment and dedication required within the Fire and Rescue Service.
