A big thank you to Janie Kemp and Naeema Nasim from Flying Start Luton for hosting a practical workshop with our Education and Childcare students.
The students were given lots of opportunities to learn about a range of acitivites to do with babies and toddlers. They were shown different toys and play matts, they were taken through painting and colouring, along with some children's books. The students were challenged to explain what areas of learning were being developed within each activity.
The workshop ended in true early years style with a shared story, singing and action songs. All of the students absolutely loved taking part in the singing and doing the actions!
Overall the students found the workshop truly helpful. Here are some key takeaways.
"It was a really interactive workshop, it gave me a range of great ideas for teaching different activities and relating my teaching to placement tasks that the students need to do."
- Sabah Mehmood, studying Level 6 Professional Graduate Certificate in Education
"I learnt about different career opportunities, learning more about the role of the 'Community Link Worker' and learning about the importance of working with the child and their parents. Supporting parents with NHS guidance."
- Haifa Ali, studying Level 2 Early Years Practitioner
It was really interesting, it gave me the opportunity to learn about different themes I could use for activities with babies and young children."
- Aleks Murkowska, studying Level 2 Early Years Practitioner
