We were pleased to recently welcome Gemma Bamford, Sara Coombs and Lisa Edmonds from Luton Borough Council/Flying start Luton and The Early Years Alliance to deliver a masterclass to our Education and Early Years students.
Gemma, Sara and Lisa gave great insights into the role of an Early Years Practitioner, the career opportunities that come with the role and can give and possible routes to take. Lisa from Early Years Alliance is a former Barnfield student and discussed her time with us, how we supported with her career and the route to where she is now.
We work with a wide range of employers as part of the college’s approach to developing students for the world of work, the masterclass was no different. Students were given fantastic advice about working in partnership with parents and other professionals, as well as the importance of safeguarding, reporting and record keeping within the industry.
Flying Start and Early Years Alliance have already made plans to carry out future masterclasses for our students. Future classes will cover sensory play sessions and activity planning for meeting the early years curriculum.
Our students came away with a host of insights from the masterclass. Here are some of their takeaways.
