Our Level 3 computing students recently visited Computacenter Headquarters in Hatfield to take part in a business challenge.
The students were given a detailed insight into Computacenter and what they do. They were then set a brief to design their own theme park. The students worked in teams to develop their ideas and create their own theme park rides.
Subsequently, the students compiled their ideas into a final presentation, ready to present to the judges. This allowed the students to develop their presenting skills in a professional environment. The winning team developed an idea based on creativity, technology and sustainability.
These activities were extremely beneficial to the students, as it mirrored what they are currently studying on their course. In particular, the designing of the rides linked to designing computer systems and logical thought processes.
Overall, the students enjoyed the day and found it very useful.
Abdulla said ‘I found the trip to Computacenter a worthwhile experience and a lot of fun’.
Aqib said ‘My biggest take away from the trip was being inside an industry, which is relevant to my course and what I wish to do in the future’.
Barnfield College offers a variety of computing courses.
