To complement your learning, you’ll have access to our brand new, state-of-the-art healthcare ward — a realistic and fully equipped environment where you can practise clinical skills and patient care techniques in a safe, supportive space. This hands-on experience gives you a real taste of working in the health and social care sector and builds the confidence you need to succeed from day one.

Because of the nature of these courses, you must not have been previously excluded from teaching or working with young people. If you are planning or applying to work with young people under 18 or vulnerable adults you will need to seek enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) clearance, this will be done through the College.

  • Entry Criteria

    Grade 3 in English and maths and two additional GCSEs grade 3 or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

  • What will I study?

    Mandatory units include:

    • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care – understand the concept and impacts of a person-centred approach
    • Human growth and development – understand the stages of development, as well as the factors that affect these stages
    • Safeguarding and protection in health and social care - understand legislation, policies, procedures and codes of practice in relation to safeguarding and protection
    • Communication in health and social care – understand the importance of effective communication, including confidentiality
    • Working in health and social care – understand the roles and responsibilities of the health and social care practitioner
