Vauxhall Backs Barnfield

Motor Vehicle students at Barnfield College were delighted with the donation of a vehicle and two engines from Luton Vauxhall Motors, Luton.

The car, a 2016 Viva and the engines are current pre-production models, which will provide students and staff at the College with the opportunity for invaluable practical experience of motor vehicle maintenance and repair.

Motor vehicle student, Daniel Sutherill said, “I’m looking forward to working on the Vauxhall Viva to practice diagnostic procedures and learn and develop my skills using the very latest technology.

The donation further strengthens the partnership between the locally renowned manufacturer and the College. “This is partnership working at its best,” said Marcel Fernandes, Engineering Lead at Barnfield College.

“We would like to thank Vauxhall Motors for their generous gesture. This demonstrates the commitment we have to providing well-educated and trained young adults, equipped with the skills and knowledge to take up jobs in the local industry.

Cherie Denton, Vauxhall’s Community Coordinator said, “We work very closely with local businesses and companies and are delighted to team up with Barnfield College on this donation. The new Vauxhall Viva launched recently, joining Vauxhall’s small car family. Students will be able to have hands-on experience of a real working environment, giving them the best possible start for a successful future in the motor vehicle industry.

Vauxhall currently has dealerships across the UK and sells a range of vehicles from family cars to commercial vehicles, including the iconic Vauxhall Astra.

Barnfield College offers a diverse range of motor vehicle courses, allowing students to progress from entry level through to level 3. These include: light and heavy vehicle maintenance, repair and motorcycle maintenance and repair, general engineering and most recently, motor vehicle body and paint, which has been heavily invested in to give students the latest equipment and materials used within the industry today.
