During your time at College we want you to enjoy yourself, work hard and achieve – being happy and getting involved is an important part of this. We’re here to help whenever you need us!
Our Student Support, Admissions and GAP Teams are available on every campus, on hand to provide advice on finance, personal support, careers information and much more. Feel free to drop in on campus any time to chat, or contact us for advice and guidance.

Mental Health and Wellbeing
It’s good to talk. Our team provide you with the space and freedom to talk about what’s on your mind, we believe that it’s important to seek help when needed.
Financial support is available to students that qualify through our Learning Support Fund (LSF). If your household income is £35,500 a year or less you may be eligible for support for the costs of coming to college this includes:
- Travel costs
- Free college meals
- Kit and equipment

Additional Learning Support
Our highly qualified and experienced Additional Learning Support (ALS) team supports students using their individual support strategies. Our ALS team ensure our students make a smooth transition to college and offer the expertise to help our students achieve their full potential. Here at Barnfield College we have a wide range of support available including:
- Classroom support
- Specialist 1:1 support
- British Sign Language Communicators
- Teachers of the Deaf
- Examination arrangements
- Adaptive materials and specialist equipment
Higher Education Students are required to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) to receive funded support during their course. Find out more about the DSA here.
You can book yourself a one-to-one study skills session with our LRC staff, who can provide advice on planning your workload, research, drafting work, revision techniques and completing your assignments. It’s all part of a service dedicated to helping you achieve the very best grades you can. Drop into any LRC to book your session.
We are committed to providing the best possible learning experience for all of our students; setting clear, high and consistent standards and expectations.
As a Barnfield College student, you’ll have access to Canvas from any online device, 24/7. Canvas gives you access to course content and assignments as well as links to helpful resources.
All full-time students also have access to ProPortal, where you can access your grades and predicted grades, track your progress and monitor your attendance.
Parents and carers
We want you to be involved in your child’s education right from the start. There’s no doubt your contribution and encouragement can help your child achieve their goals.
There’ll be lots of opportunities for you to feedback your thoughts and opinions to us during the year, through surveys and dedicated parent/carer evenings.
