Course introduction
This course is designed to develop you as a film maker. You will learn vast amount skills that will enable you to consider a career in the TV and film industry. You will complete a wide variety of creative projects which will allow you the opportunity to gain skills that are necessary for anyone working in the industry. Using industry standard equipment and resources, as well as being taught by industry professionals, this course is designed and aimed at providing you with a thorough introduction into theories and practices of digital video production. You will have the opportunity to work with real clients and develop a show reel of your own work to present to future employers.
4 GCSEs (A*-C/9-4) including English, or a Level 2 Diploma in Media or Art and Design. This course is aimed at School Leavers aged 16-18.

• Scriptwriting
• Social Action Video
• Multi-Camera Studio Production
• Video Editing
• You will also learn important communication skills, methods of researching and pre-production techniques to help plan your video projects.
2nd year projects will include
• TV Advert Production
• Short Film
• Sound Design
• Multi-Camera Podcast
• Promotional Video
• Final Major Project (Open theme)
• Advanced Video Editing
• You will also be deciding your next steps after leaving the course, as well as developing skills in pitching ideas and working with clients.
Using industry standard equipment and resources, as well as being taught by industry professionals, this course is designed and aimed at providing you with a thorough introduction into theories and practices of digital video production. You will have the opportunity to work with real clients and develop a show reel of your own work to present to future employers.
You’ll study the following mandatory units:
• Pre-production techniques for the creative media industries
• Communication skills for creative media production
• Research techniques for the creative media industries
• Understanding the television and film industries
• Creative media production management project
• Working to a brief in the creative media industries
• Critical approaches to creative media products
• Film and video editing techniques
You’ll also be able to choose from a range of optional units, including:
• Film and video editing techniques
• Music video production
• Advertisement production for television
• Stop motion animation production
• Working freelance in the creative media sector
• Film studies
• Producing video installation work
• Soundtrack production for the moving image
• Scriptwriting

Your study options include the HND in Creative Media Production: Film and TV or related subjects. or at university, a range of Honours level degrees across design, production, media and film and TV production. Possible careers include film, television and a wide range of media-related employment.
