Student wins award in Farécla Bonnet Competition

on October 23, 2019

Body & Paint student Vlad Iliev has won the Best Media Entry in the Farécla Apprentice & Student Bonnet Painting Competition 2019.

Vlad was commended for his work in planning and creating a video that documented the production of his bonnet artwork. He won a GoPro and Farécla polishing materials.

On the search for the UK’s most talented student and apprentice painters, Farécla set the task of designing a bonnet using only the Farécla colour palette of yellow, black, grey and white. After a long voting period, and facing stiff competition, Vlad’s bonnet was selected as one of the five best from across the country.

Vlad design was inspired by his girlfriend’s cat: “I decided to incorporate a cat into my design, to show the secrecy of a cat. My intention was to show the mystery of them and their character.”

Talking about his path into body & paint, Vlad explained: “I got into car painting after deciding to follow my dream to restore cars. I’ve been doing car refinishing at college for two years now and I am really enjoying it.”

Body and Paint tutor Sachit Shah, said: “We are pleased and proud of Vlad’s achievements and we hope Vlad and other students will enter other competitions within our industry and represent the college to high level. Vlad is a very focused student, and is returning to us to undertake an apprenticeship in Paint principles.”
