Students at Barnfield College kept a steady pace, achieving pass rates on a par to 2015. The pass rate for 2015/16 sits at 77.3% for English Languages and 72.4% for maths.
The College saw a greater number of enrolments this year, with twice as many students enrolled for English Language and almost triple, for maths.
‘We recognise that the GCSE qualification has become tougher and grade boundaries higher’ said Barnfield College Principal, Tim Eyton-Jones.
‘That is why we have taken significant steps to ensure all students without English and maths are comprehensively supported by good quality teaching and learning throughout the academic year.
‘We have introduced bridging courses to ensure learners enrol onto a course and level that is suitable to their needs, allowing for progression upon completion.
For students who may not have achieved the grades they were expecting, the College is able to offer an instant helping hand via a series of specialist Advice Days that commence today, on the back of GCSE results day, till the 2 September.
Held across both New Bedford Road and Enterprise Way campuses, the Advice Days will allow prospective students to receive advice and information on what to do next and apply, interview and enrol on the same day, making it a straightfoward way to continue in education.
