Exam Update – remaining January exams will not go ahead
Today, 6 January, Pearson – the awarding body for BTEC examinations – has announced that if schools and colleges decide not to offer vocational exams they have agreed with Ofqual and the Department for Education that no student will be disadvantaged.
Our priority at the Barnfield College is to provide students with every opportunity to achieve their potential. It was on this basis, and in the absence of any certainty about the impact on qualification achievement for students who did not sit examinations, the decision was taken to proceed with the BTEC examinations throughout January.
However, in light of this morning’s official announcement that students will not be disadvantaged if they do not sit exams during the January series, the College has decided not to go ahead with the remaining examinations scheduled during January 2021.
All students and colleagues involved in the January exams are being contacted with immediate effect to ensure they are fully aware of the College’s position. We will ensure that all students who have not undertaken exams as planned are fully supported to engage in the official alternative assessments made available by awarding bodies.
