Construction and the
Built Environment

Opportunities in the construction industry are on the rise, especially with the wealth of new developments in the local area. And if you’re interested in a trade career, there’s plenty to choose from at Barnfield College, with courses in bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, and plumbing. Whichever route you choose, you’ll be taught by staff with extensive experience in their industries and benefit from our industry-standard workshops with access to the latest equipment. And our strong links with local employers will ensure you’re well prepared for a successful career.

Safety and quality are fundamental to our courses. Whatever area you’re working in, we make sure you gain in-depth knowledge of safety procedures and safe handling of tools and materials. You’ll also work with the latest techniques and technologies, ensuring your skills are up-to-date and relevant to industry.

With this in mind, students will be required to purchase appropriate uniform and kit for their safety. Please see details of required kit and download an order form. (Please note details of footwear can be found on the order form).

We’ve got an outstanding track record of getting students into employment  in their specialist area, but you’ll also emerge with transferable skills that could land you a job in foremanship or site management.

And if you’re not yet sure which construction route you’d like to follow, our Multi-trades course will allow you to try your hand at the lot. We’ll support you in either choosing a trade to specialise in, or moving into the general maintenance sector.

We know choosing what and where to study is a big decision. Here are a few big reasons why studying at Barnfield College could be the best choice for your future.
