Grade 4 and above in GCSE English and maths and a minimum of two additional GCSEs at grade 4 or above or a strong Merit profile on a relevant Level 2 qualification. For students aged 19+ this course is non-funded and requires an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the course fees. "It is expected that you will progress onto the full extended diploma in public services after completing this year 90-credit qualification. If you are 19 or above upon completion of this course, you may choose to progress on to a relevant Level 4 qualification such as an HNC or Foundation degree dependent on your academic capability. Learners of any age could also seek an apprenticeship or direct employment into the public services. "
This course will aid you in learning and having an in-depth knowledge about a variety of uniformed public services careers. The lessons are a mixture of theory based subjects, practical team tasks both within and outside of a classroom setting and will also cover your fitness and how to improve it. You will learn:
Citizenship and the importance within the Public Services
Government policies, structure and laws
Leadership and teamwork including practical scenario based tasks
Fitness testing and training
Discipline including performing drill
Police powers
Expedition skills and outdoor activities including safety and equipment
War and terrorism and its impact
Responding to emergency service incidents
