Entry Requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSE passes at Grade D or full Level 2 qualification. Must have a D in English and Maths. A positive interview outcome is also required.

This level 3 qualification will give you a robust understanding of Bench Joinery. This means you will learn the skills, knowledge and understanding required for you to enter work or progress onto the level 4 in Construction Site Supervision. You will be trained in the use of the latest equipment used in industry; there are four different progression routes from this programme, good opportunities for 20 hrs work experience, opportunity to transfer into an apprenticeship.
Additional Information
All students will be required to purchase a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit and safety boots. The PPE kit will need to be purchased via the College for £40. Safety boots cost approximately £25 and can be purchased externally or via the College.
ABOUT THE COURSE
You will follow a Study Programme that will include substantial practical workshop practice, theory sessions, English and mathematics lessons and Work Experience with carpentry professionals or community construction projects. The Study Programme will develop your carpentry and employability skills and enable you to progress onto a higher level carpentry course or an apprenticeship. When you study for your Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery, you will learn about how the construction industry works as a team by studying the following: - Health, safety and welfare - Technical information, quantities and communication - Knowledge of construction technology In our outstanding workshop facilities, you will also learn the following practical skills: - Producing woodworking joints - Maintaining and using carpentry and joinery hand and power tools. You will learn how to produce different types of carpentry joints, make a scaled doorframe and a door and have the opportunity to make a project of your choice (e.g. bedside cabinet, child’s balance bike).
