Once you have successfully completed your HNC, you can progress onto an HND. If you choose to complete your HND with us, you can then choose to complete a top up year at a university to achieve a full Bachelor’s degree. You can also pursue an apprenticeship or enter employment.
Additional Information
Approximately £500 for equipment and portfolios is required, though you may be eligible for a bursary. There may be a need for students to purchase some of the more expensive 3D materials such as precious metals and specialist timbers. Students will be introduced to Creative Suite and would benefit from having access to this at home. There will be an overseas trip approximately £300 plus expenses. This is not compulsory but is highly recommended.
This course enables students to direct their personal interests as a 3D Designer with specialist skills in a broad range of materials and techniques. Students may develop their practice in the contemporary crafts of jewellery, ceramics and glass, or in the industrial design disciplines of product design, furniture design or model making. Practical skill development is underpinned with professional studies as well as contextual studies that introduce students to contemporary 3D Design practice and fine art theory. A programme of lectures, guest speakers, external trips, work experience, competition briefs, exhibitions and an overseas trip, enhance cultural knowledge, allow students to gain real world experience and enhance their CV. Students will build a professional quality portfolio to support their progression to further study or into employment or self-employment. All Tutors on the course are practising Artists and Designers with high levels of expertise and subject knowledge as well as extensive teaching experience.
