Successful completion of the Level 1 diploma in carpentry, you will also need to attend a course introduction meeting.

This level 2 qualification will give you a robust understanding of Site Carpentry. This means you will learn the skills, knowledge and competence required for you to enter work or progress onto the level 3 in Site Carpentry. This qualification will enable you to progress in Site Carpentry and on completion of this qualification, progress into employment in their chosen trade or on to one of the following qualifications: - Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry - Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision You will be trained in the use of the latest equipment used in industry; there are four different progression routes from this programme, good opportunities for 20 hrs work experience, opportunity to transfer into an apprenticeship.
Additional Information
All students will be required to purchase a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit and safety boots. The PPE kit will need to be purchased via the College for £40. Safety boots cost approximately £25 and can be purchased externally or via the College.
ABOUT THE COURSE
The Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry qualification has been developed for delivery in a training environment; this means that you do not need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work in Site Carpentry in the construction industry or progress to further training. The learner will cover knowledge in three core subject areas: - Health, safety and welfare - Information, quantities and communication - Construction technology The Learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in: - Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools - First fixing operations - Second fixing operations - Structural carcassing operations - Maintenance to non-structural carpentry work These units are split into knowledge & practical delivery. Practical workshops are designed to give you simulated activities developing hand skills and these are assessed as you progress through your qualification. Your Knowledge is assessed on completion of individual units by way of on line assessment.
