Getting spotted on the runway is every designer’s dream, but Fashion Show LIVE Academy’s #FSLCATWALK17 made exactly that happen for one of our lucky former students.
Former student Donna Elana has become one of Barnfield College’s latest success stories. At the age of 34, Donna resigned from her job as a Mortgage Advisor to go back to college to study her love of Fashion.
Going back to college was a tough decision for Donna, but with the support and advice of tutors at Barnfield College, she graduated with a HND in Fashion & Textiles, and gained lots of work experience working with Britain’s Top designer and Barnfield Lecturer Hellen Woollams’ label ‘Hellavagirl’. She attended photoshoots and fashion shows such as London and Pakistan Fashion Week and finally showcased her first Designer Collection at Fashion Show LIVE’s #FSLCATWALK17, having been introduced to Fashion Show Live (FSL) by Barnfield College.
Donna said “[When] my first collection “Inside Out” hit the catwalk, I couldn’t believe it! My designer name was there, up in the lights, the garments I had worked so tirelessly on…were there on the #FSLCATWALK…It was such a fantastic experience, I will be forever grateful to FSL. “
Donna’s collection was inspired by the fragility of life; how strong the human is yet how fragile the human can be- the undercurrent of FSL.
Donna has since be hired by a London design company where she continues to learn about the fashion industry and work with established designers.
Donna stresses “If anyone is considering taking part in FSL – I would say without a doubt-do it! The opportunities that FSL open up for you are incredible, and the best bit is, you get to have fun whilst doing it!”
