on October 11, 2022

Barnfield College alumna, Anisa Riaz Murshed, who studied Level 3 Art and Design has been nominated for the Platform Graduate Award 2022.

Anisa recalled how her time at Barnfield helped to build her skills and confidence: “Barnfield College was the start of my success in Art and Design. I want to give a special mention to my two amazing tutors, Belinda Gbadebo and Ruth Parsfield who have helped me pursue further education. The courses I studied at Barnfield helped me develop my skills, and find what I enjoy making as an artist.”

After leaving Barnfield College, Anisa progressed to the University of Bedfordshire studying a Secondary Art and Design postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE). This summer she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree.

The Platform Graduate Award celebrates new artistic talent. Following an exhibition and events programme across the participating galleries, an artist from each gallery is nominated for the award. Roisin Callaghan from the Milton Keynes Gallery was able to see Anisa’s potential at a previous show and selected Anisa for this award.

Anisa was delighted to be nominated stating: “I feel really honoured about being nominated as I never particularly had the confidence to produce art that is very close to my heart. My tutors always believed in me to showcase my passion with my cultural and religion beliefs.”

The winning artist will be announced in December 2022, you can keep up to date on the awards here: Platform Graduate Award 2022

We wish Anisa the best of luck!
