Barnfield College is celebrating after winning the award in the ‘Training and Development’ category at the FSB Bedfordshire Business Awards 2016. The Training and Development Award recognises the vast improvements made within the Colleges’ Apprenticeships Services in the last year, having now achieved above sector average for successfully completed apprenticeship programmes.
Students at Barnfield College kept a steady pace, achieving pass rates on a par to 2015. The pass rate for 2015/16 sits at 77.3% for English Languages and 72.4% for maths. The College saw a greater number of enrolments this year, with twice as many students enrolled for English Language and almost triple, for maths.
Barnfield College congratulates all students across the country who have achieved their A Level and BTEC results. Students at the College are celebrating some of their best BTEC achievements this year. One hundred percent pass rates were achieved across courses in art and design, fashion, business, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation, engineering, music and sport.
Barnfield College’s Nursery, which is situated on the grounds of the New Bedford Road campus, has been rated Outstanding second time in a row, after its Ofsted inspection last month. The report graded the quality and standards of the early year’s provision as outstanding across all areas.
Barnfield College has received an upgrade to ‘requires improvement’ in its latest Ofsted inspection, a year after its ‘inadequate’ rating which had no key strengths. The report highlights positive aspects as well as the improvements required to propel it into higher grading ground.
Barnfield College’s Students Services and the Apprenticeships team have been accredited with the matrix Standard – the nationally recognised quality mark, which assesses the advice and support services organisations provide to support individuals in their selection of career, study and life goals.
On Monday 2 November, representatives from the Royal Navy visited students on the College’s popular Public Services courses. The students took part in a variety of activities starting the day with a presentation about the Navy, roles available and that of a standard working day.
