A message from the Principal: The start of term and the latest Coronavirus guidance

on August 13, 2020

We are encouraging all our students at all levels to remain focused on their long-term goals. The qualifications you achieve at College will be so important to your future – more than ever while the country recovers from the pandemic – and we have made all of the preparations necessary for you to continue with your course under all potential circumstances, either on-campus, online or a mixture of both.

Your Course
It is vital you have access to the facilities you need to succeed in your chosen subject, we’re focused on providing this access safely, putting you in the best position possible to achieve your qualifications and enjoy getting the most out of your College experience.

To ensure this is the case we’ve made some of the wider elements of College life available remotely, as well as online, so nothing will be off limits regardless of the situation with Covid 19.

You will be able to access all our student support services and speak with a personal advisor in confidence about any matters you need help with. Should you require any help with your course Study Plus sessions will be available remotely and on campus.

Work experience with highly-rated employers and masterclasses with industry specialists will all still be available to you, online, on campus, and in workplace settings. There will be a full programme of extra-curricular activities available too, making sure you are able to enjoy a range of other experiences individually or with your friends.

If you need to resit your English and maths qualifications you will be able to access all the resources you need online. Our specialist teachers in these subjects will also be available to help you online and on campus. The College’s brand new On-Demand services, will provide you with high-quality digital learning experience.

The system is easy to use and the app works on all mobile devices; your tutors will work closely to help you use the app and stay on track with your studies. As well as the hub for all of your course’s key resources this is the perfect place to check your timetable and all other course and college information. Login to Canvas our online learning experience here.

On Campus
To keep you safe and ensure the College remains Covid-secure we are following all Government guidance.

Students will remain in the same group (bubble) for all of their lessons and will not be required to mix with other students for any aspect of their course.

Throughout all non-teaching spaces on campus, such as learning centres and canteens, students and employees will be required to observe social distancing, sanitise their hands frequently using one of the many sanitising stations available throughout the campuses, and wear face coverings.

We understand this a difficult time and that you may be feeling anxious about what opportunities lay ahead. Things will get better and there remains much to look forward to for young people with good qualifications, skills and experiences. Don’t lose sight of your long-term ambitions and remain fully focused on gaining the qualifications and skills you need to fulfil your own plans in the future.

We’ll keep a close eye on the Covid-19 situation and stay in touch with students, parents and carers and information changes. We can adjust the mix of learning on campus and online at any point, making sure you don’t miss out.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to get in touch via phone, email, our social media channels or webchat – whichever way suits you best.
