Careers Education and Guidance for Part-time students

If you are a part-time student you will have one hour a week devoted to group tutorials. This will include careers education and guidance to support your education and career goals. If you are studying a short courses or evening study, there is no formal tutorial programme but there will be personal tutors available to provide information, advice and guidance.

Tutorials

Barnfield College provides you with the guidance and learning support needed to enable you to achieve your personal, educational and employment goals.

You will be allocated a personal tutor at the beginning of the academic year. The tutorial process will consist of at least three one-to-one interviews per year and a programme of group tutorial.

If you are studying a short courses or evening class there is no formal tutorial programme, however a personal tutor can provide the information, advice and guidance.

We aim to meet your needs through the tutorial by:

  • Managing your transition from school, work or unemployment to college.
  • Keep you fully informed about the activities, opportunities and support services provided by Barnfield College.
  • Help you develop your independence, confidence, self-esteem and ‘life skills'.
  • Achieve your personal learning goals.
  • Manage your transition from college to employment or higher education.
