This course develops skills in all areas of fashion and textile design in preparation for working in the fashion industry. Practical and creative development is underpinned by theoretical studies.

Year 1:

A series of projects introduce students to:

  •  Design principles
  •  Research and design development
  •  Fashion drawing
  •  Pattern cutting and production methods
  •  Screen printing and fabric embellishment
  •  CAD
  •  Fashion marketing
  •  Historical, contextual and professional studies

Year 2:

You will compile individually written project briefs enabling students to develop their own specialisms within fashion and textile design. Design and production skills are developed through work placements and studio practice. Knowledge is further developed through professional practice and critical studies.

Entry Requirements:

Either 2 'A' Levels, National Diploma and GCSE English grade C or above.

Prospects/Leads to:

A further year of full-time study for BA (Hons). Fashion industry career as a designer, buyer or technologist.
