The Level 2 Apprenticeship is offered in body repair and vehicle re-finishing.
The technical certificate is studied over two years on day release and the NVQ is assessed in the workplace. Key skills are integrated into all subjects.
The entry requirement for Level 2 is four GCSEs at grade C or above. After successful completion of the Level 2 there is an opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 programme as an Advanced Apprentice.
We run apprenticeships in Plumbing, Plastering, Brickwork, Carpentry and Painting and Decorating at Level 2 and Level 3. We are working with about 45 construction companies supporting local Apprentices.
Barnfield Training Services has a close working relationship with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and operates to CITB standards. If your Apprenticeship is managed by Barnfield Training Services your employer can claim the CITB Training Grant. Apprentices must have four GCSEs including grade C or above in English and Maths. Key Skills must be achieved. There may be an option to undertake an Advanced Programme at Level 3 over a further year once the Level 2 Apprenticeship has been achieved.
This is a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship which consists of 3 components undertaken over 3 years:
Apprentices will be employed full-time in a dental practice and attend college on day release for delivery of underpinning knowledge and development of clinical skills. Assessment of clinical skills will be done through direct observation in their work setting and the college dental nurse training facility.
Dental Nurse Apprentices require English GCSE at grade C or above and a further 3 GCSEs at grade D or above. A science GCSE would be beneficial but not essential. On completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship, dental nursing apprentices will be able to apply for entry to the General Dental Council's Dental Care Professionals register. After qualification inclusion on the register is mandatory to enable a dental nurse to practice legally.
Advanced Apprenticeship only. This is a Level 3 programme covering installing electro-technical systems and equipment and takes up to 4 years to complete. This programme offers an NVQ and technical certificate. The AM2 test is also covered and must be passed to achieve the full apprenticeship qualification.
The entry requirements are four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths. The NVQ covers domestic and commercial/industrial work-based training. Three Key Skills must be achieved at Level 2.
Barnfield Training Services is working with a broad spectrum of engineering companies including manufacturing, maintenance and electronic. Apprentices for engineering require a good range of GCSEs at C grade or above particularly in English, Maths and Science to progress to higher levels.
Mechanical and Production Advanced apprentices spend the first year in the college workshops learning basic engineering skills. They return to work to consolidate training during years 2, 3 and 4, while working towards the technical certificate and NVQ. Advanced Apprentices
are required to achieve 5 Key Skills.
Electrical Apprentices attend day release during the course. Foundation Apprentices attend college on day release working towards a technical certificate and are visited at work by an assessor who will support the NVQ which demonstrates competency at work. Manufacturing Apprentices at Level 2 are assessed for their NVQ in their workplace and achieve two Key Skills.
The Apprenticeship at Level 2 is a two-year programme with a workbased NVQ and theory which will be covered in the college salons. The entry requirement is four GCSEs grade D or above
including English.
Barnfield Training Services is working with a range of salons in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
Applicants should be motivated with a keen interest in hairdressing.
Those who achieve the Apprenticeship at Level 2 may be eligible for a year-long Advanced Apprenticeship. The Advanced programme requires Key Skills at Level 2
in communication and numeracy.
Apprenticeships are available in the following subjects: - Computing for Users the ITQ, Software
Development, Computer Hardware and Computer Networking Specialism. These apprenticeships are offered at level two and at level three.
Apprentices must be employed, full-time with a suitable company where they will be performing tasks relevant to the programme of study on a daily basis.
Apprentices will generally attend college on a day release basis for delivery of underpinning knowledge and further development of computing skills. The majority of assessments of these skills will be done through direct observation in both the work setting and the college training facility.
Entry requirements vary depending on the level of NVQ being undertaken, however, good levels of GCSE Grade ‘C' or equivalent of Math and English are recommended.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship includes the work-based NVQ and the Technical Certificate undertaken through a programme of learning theory and practical training at college. Apprenticeships are offered in light and heavy vehicle. Three Key Skills must be achieved.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship lasts two years with day release at college and NVQ assessment at the work-place.
Having achieved the Level 2 Apprenticeship there is an option to undertake the Advanced Programme at Level 3 over a third year. The entry requirement for these programmes is four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths.
