We understand that as a parent or guardian of a school leaver, the decision of what to do next is just as important for you as it is for your child. With so many options on what to study and where, it can be quite confusing.

That’s why we’ve dedicated a section of our website to parents and guardians of school leavers, to give you all the information you need to best support and advise them on this exciting journey, from the application process and changes in qualifications to the high-quality learning experience your child will receive at Barnfield College.

You can relax with the knowledge that we’re in invested in your child’s future as much as you are and committed to ensuring they learn in a positive, safe and supportive environment, in which they can realise their full potential and truly flourish.

Getting into college

Researching, applying and starting at college is an exciting time for both your child and yourself. The best way to get all the information you need is to come to one of our open evenings. It’s the best way to get a feel for the environment, talk to the experts – our teaching staff, hear from our currents students and find out about the financial and student support services we offer.

How to apply

The easiest and simplest way to apply is via our website. Get to grips with application process and what to expect at every step, so you’re well-informed to support your child.

Strong financial support

We know how important financial support is for students, which is why we offer bursaries, free school meals and maintenance awards. Under special circumstances, we can also provide additional financial support at the College’s discretion. Check if your child is eligible and apply.

Lots of other support

We have a wide range of support available when students get here. If your child has a problem when they arrive or during the course of their studies, you can guide them to our various support services.

If you have any other questions please email us at: admissions@barnfield.ac.uk or fill out our Contact Us form.

Your child and the Internet & Social Media

As well as keeping them safe physically and emotionally within the College, we are keen to ensure your child is also safe online. We have obtained the below useful information leaflets from the NSPCC and O2 designed to help parents/guardians/carers understand the Internet and Social Media.
