Training Boost

12 November 2008

Barnfield College has joined a £3.74 million government scheme to boost veterinary and animal care training.

British veterinarians and animal care professionals are in short supply.
The College has just signed a partnership agreement with the National Lifelong Learning Network for Veterinary and Allied Professionals (VETNETLLN).
The College will use special funding under the scheme to develop new foundation degree courses in veterinary science and animal care.

Pete Birkett, Barnfield's Chief Executive, said: "This is a big step forward in putting Luton on the national skills map. The demand-led higher education courses that we are developing will provide students with the right skills needed by employers.

"The courses will also allow students to progress to further academic studies."
The College has taught BTEC courses in animal care for many years.
