Twenty-nine local licensed taxi and private hire drivers have graduated from Barnfield College with a certificate in road passenger transport.The drivers are the first in Luton to achieve the NVQ Level 2 qualification.
The qualification is designed to improve health and safety, safe and efficient driving, customer service, dealing with difficult passengers, emergencies and incidents, the service for those who need help and safe transport for young people.
The Mayor, Cllr Mohammed Riaz, presented certificates for the course which was developed by the Learning and Skills Council and Go Skills.
Barnfield College, Luton Council and ABA Training, a specialist training organisation, launched the course in Luton.
Courses continue at Barnfield College where drivers with numeracy or literacy difficulties are offered extra tuition.
