A talented Houghton Regis beauty student will be competing against the best in Britain in a UK Skills make-up final in Birmingham in June.
Colleen Kennedy, 17, won the qualifying round held at Barnfield College against 35 other competitors.
Colleen, a student at the college, had to create a special make-up look with the theme of "Countries". She chose the Chinese look with her model, Amy Beirne, 16, of Houghton Regis.
Bianca McEvoy, 17, of Bedford, came second in the contest and Olivia Bunyan, 18, of Dunstable, was placed third. Carley Wilson 20, of Dunstable, was highly commended. The winners received prizes of cosmetics from SBC cosmetics.
The day-long round was judged by Lorraine Winslade, director of SBC cosmetics, Leanne Seeley, ex-Barnfield student and tattooist at the Terrapin, Arndale Centre, and Kathrine Fisher, Barnfield make-up degree course lecturer.
