A seven-a-side football team from Barnfield College Luton has won the Bedfordshire FA disability summer league championship.

The Barnfield team, organised by the college's learning support department, was 11 points clear at the top of the table, remaining undefeated after 24 matches. Eleven teams from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire contested the league.
The competition, which ran from May, comprised 18 matches. The league was played at Leighton United FC.

The players were presented with a medal and plaque and the team with a trophy by Darren Lawrence, regional development manager from the Football Association, who said he was very impressed with the league and praised the standard of play and the excellent sportsmanship of players, officials and spectators.

Pete Birkett, Barnfield's Chief Executive, said: "We are very proud of our team. They trained and played very hard and deserved to win."

Barnfield hopes to enter two teams in next year's summer league. Contact les.dedman@bedfordshirefa.com for more information.
