A pioneering training facility at London Luton Airport, run by Barnfield College Luton, is spearheading a skills drive at Britain's fifth largest airport.

The 24/7 centre provides bespoke and nationally-recognised training courses for airport and airline employees and other staff working at the large airport site.
Staff from the airport, easyJet, Monarch Airlines, Servisair, Menzies and the Airport Fire Service have been trained at the facility.

Thirty-six airport staff are presently undertaking an advanced management course with an audit training course also planned for airport staff. Airport and easyJet managers are learning new IT skills at the facility.

Pete Birkett, Barnfield's Chief Executive, said: "Working with employers to provide the training they need for today and tomorrow is our Number 1 priority. Our 24/7 facility offers quality training that airport employers need at times to suit shift patterns. It is on site, so travel is not an issue.

"Our airport facility is part of our programme to improve training opportunities in Luton, particularly in the present circumstances where developing individual skills is so important."
