A successful businessman who set up and ran a niche manufacturing and distribution operation has been appointed Assistant Principal, Business Development at Barnfield College Luton.
Stephen Hall ran the food business, which sold across the EU, for 15 years, later moving to Dairy Crest as regional training manager.
His most recent appointment was head of business and commercial development at the College of North-West London in Brent where he broadened training into retail and food manufacturing and established an innovation department.
Pete Birkett, Barnfield's Chief Executive, said: "The experience, skills, and knowledge that Stephen brings to the college are welcomed as we extend into new markets, and focus on meeting the demands of local employers. I am delighted that Stephen has joined the Barnfield group at a time of excitement, challenge and change."
At Barnfield, Stephen Hall is aiming to achieve a better balance between traditional FE courses and workplace training. "We are putting the employer at the centre of our operations alongside the learner. It is a seismic shift for Barnfield. But the college is up for the challenge - it was rated outstanding by Ofsted.
"Initially, I am mapping local employer needs against our resources and adjusting what we can offer accordingly."
