Barnfield Federation Scoops Top Prizes at Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Awards Evening

Barnfield Federation walked away with a host of awards at last week's Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) conference held in Chelsea.

 Barnfield West Academy was awarded:

• The school or academy with the most improved GCSE results 5A*- C from 2005-2008
• The school or academy with the most improved 5A*- C results from 2007-2008
• Most improved school or academy in the East region
• The Mathletics Gold Medal

 Both Barnfield West and Barnfield South were also awarded the SSAT Consultant School Award

Pete Birkett, Chief Executive of Barnfield College and Chairman of Barnfield Academies, said: "This is a marvellous achievement for the Barnfield Federation. Staff, students, parents and directors have all worked tremendously hard to place our Academies firmly on the road to excellence."

West Principal Rachel de Souza said: "Well done to all my fabulous staff and students and many thanks to our sponsor Barnfield College and everyone who has worked with us and helped make a difference. What a great end to the year."

 In its first monitoring visits, Ofsted said that both Barnfield West and South Academies had made outstanding progress since opening in September 2007.
