The Sport, Fitness & Uniformed Services Department at Barnfield is one of the best in the country attracting students from all over the region and even internationally. We are a vibrant team who have a lot of fun.
Recent awards for the team have included:
Football League Winners of the East Premier League
Two students have been nominated for the Big Skill Awards 2009 to be held on 9 June in Bedford. Good luck to both. One of the Luton Town Football Club Apprentices has received a full football scholarship in the USA.
Students from this department have gone on to achieve many higher qualifications - including Foundation and Honours Degrees - as well as jobs within some of the town's top employers. One ex-student is working as a Personal Trainer at Lords Cricket Ground.
We also have students working at David Lloyds, Bannatynes and a one is a Manager at Fitness First. Many of our students also work within Active Luton, coaching able-bodied and disabled children.
The department currently has 130 students and 14 staff ensuring you will always get quality time with your tutor.
Based at Barnfield's New Bedford Road campus you will have access to all of the College's excellent facilities including a restaurant and crèche.
Tracy McFadden, currently studying on Level 3 Sports Therapy, says "While studying at Barnfield I have been given the opportunity to become a student rep and a Student Governor. This has given me the chance to put forward the views of my co-students.
"With the support from Barnfield and my tutors throughout my studies, it has allowed me to achieve my goals and look forward to a brighter future."
