Introduction to department

Our Health and social care courses will prepare you for a career in a variety of work-related areas including Health and Social Care. We offer courses from Level 1 to 5.You will take part in practical work experience placements that complement theoretical study. So whether its learning about supporting someone during palliative care or helping families and children, the skills you will learn in our Health and Social Care Courses will provide you with the skills and knowledge to help achieve success in this sector.

Based at: New Bedford Road Campus

Our teaching staff have had experience in many different health & social care roles so you can find out firsthand what it is like to be involved in the sector.

Study Programmes provide a wraparound learning experience for 16-18 learners which incorporate the H&SC vocational course, English and maths, enrichment, work experience and tutorials.

Level 4/5 HNC/HND courses will provide opportunities to progress on to university where you could join year 3 of a H&SC degree.

“I have really enjoyed studying on my Health and Social care courses. My experience started at Level 2 then I progressed onto the Level 3 extended diploma. I have also gained valuable skills and am currently working as a care assistant. Whilst studying I particularly enjoyed subjects such as Equality and Diversity, Anatomy and Physiology and also Psychology. Expectations

At least 95% attendance, 100% punctuality, at least 5/15 hours homework each week (depending on the level you are working on), outside reading, hard work, passion and  assignments in 30 weeks.
