Additional Information
All students will be required to purchase a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit and safety boots. The PPE kit will need to be purchased via the College for £40. Safety boots cost approximately £25 and can be purchased externally or via the College.
The Level 2 Painting & Decorating course aims to follow on from the Level 1 where you will enhance your skills and further your knowledge of the decorating trade. The course has 9 units which are assessed either practically or by way of an online multiple choice exam. You will reach a higher level of accuracy and complete more complex tasks than Level 1. This study programme also develops the appropriate level of English and maths. In addition, you will participate in 20 hours work experience with a local employer. You will cover knowledge in three core subject areas: - Health, safety and welfare - Technical information, quantities and communication - Construction technology You will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in: - Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms - Prepare surfaces for decoration - Apply paint systems by brush and roller - Apply standard papers to ceilings and walls - Produce specialist decorative finishes - Apply water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray equipment
