Entry Requirements
Successful completion of Level 2 or an equivalent accounting qualification or a full A Level in Accounting. If Level 2 was completed at Barnfield College, a tutor reference is required; if completed at another college, an interview is required. Additionally, grade 4 in English and maths or above.

To undertake this course you will need to pay the annual AAT membership fee (£88) and possibly a joining fee (£41). Also books are required from our recommended publisher, costing approximately £115. Exam resits will cost £53 per exam. Prices to be confirmed at the start of the course
ABOUT THE COURSE
Units to be studied on the AAT Level 3 qualification: - Advanced Bookkeeping: This unit develops Level 2 foundation skills in bookkeeping. Account for fixed assets (additions, disposals, depreciation and records); Prepare adjustments to be entered on to an extended trial balance; Understand accounting principles and concepts. - Final Accounts Preparation: Prepare final accounts for sole traders and partnerships in becoming aware of alternative business organisation structures; Understand legislation relating to Partnerships; Prepare an Income Statement and a Statement of Financial Position for Sole Traders and a Partnership. - Management Accounting: Costing; stock valuation and control; apportionment and absorption of indirect costs, fixed and variable cost analysis, breakeven, margin of safety and target profit; Long term investment decisions using payback and net present value. - Indirect Tax: Understand VAT regulations; Complete a VAT return. - Ethics for Accountants: Understand the principles of ethical working, relevant legislation and the role of professional bodies, Understand how to take appropriate action following a suspected breach of ethical codes. - Spreadsheets for Accounting: Use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise data, Select and use formulas and data analysis tools, Present, format and publish spreadsheet information.
