Additional Information
The Art & Design department is known for its great quality workshops such as the Print room, 3D work shop, Laser cutter, TV Studio and Ceramic room. A gallery space is also allocated to students where opportunities are given for art work to be exhibited throughout the year. The Art & Design students will often collaborate with other creative disciplines such as Music, Media and Fashion. The purpose of these collaborations is to combine creativity in order to produce one effective outcome.
The Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design & Media is designed to build on the skills, knowledge and understanding acquired through the Award and to provide an opportunity to explore, develop and test creativity. The qualification structure will provide a base of skills and knowledge, enhance self-confidence and impart an understanding of the career demands and opportunities within Art, Design and Media. You will be introduced to many art and design specialisms such as · Drawing · Painting · Printmaking · Textiles · Film making · 3D design · Sculpture · Ceramics · Photography The Units which will be covered are: · Unit 1: Introduction to materials, processes and skills in Art, Design and Media · Unit 2: Introduction to contextual research in Art, Design and Media · Unit 3: Introduction to communication skills in Art, Design and Media · Unit 4: Solving 2D creative problems · Unit 5: Solving 3D creative problems · Unit 6: Solving time-based creative problems · Unit 7: Art, Design and Media project · Unit 8: Art, Design and Media project ( Level 2 project)
