Entry Requirements
Students will need to have a minimum of four GCSE D Grades, preferably one of those in a science related subject, one in PE (or equivalent). A minimum D (3) grade is required in both English and Maths. A suitable reference from a teacher or employer is also needed. Acceptance on the course will also be subject to an interview to establish that you have selected the course best suited to your personal requirements. Students will also be required to complete an induction 'fit day'.
Leads on to
The Extended Certificate is equivalent to 3 GCSE’s. This means that students can either use the qualification to find employment in the Sports industry or continue their education. The options for continued study are BTEC National Diploma, CYQ Personal Trainer Award or L3 Sports Therapy. Successful students will have the opportunity to work within local leisure facilities, sports development and health and fitness facilities at an appropriate level.

You will be required to purchase a college kit/uniform for all our Sports courses. Prices will be given at interview.
The course is aimed at people with a strong interest in sport, from a practical perspective. The programme develops the skills and knowledge required for work within a range of sports occupations and is also used as an access course to the BTEC National Diploma, CYQ Personal Trainer and Sports Therapy. The course will include the following areas of study:

Injury in sport
Plan, deliver and evaluate sport and leisure activities
Leading a healthy lifestyle
