This qualification will prepare you for further study at Level 2 or you can choose to specialise at Level 1. You can also choose to enter employment or apprenticeship at Junior level.
Additional Information
All students will be required to purchase a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit and safety boots. The PPE kit will need to be purchased via the College for £40. Safety boots cost approximately £25 and can be purchased externally or via the College.
This course will introduce you to the construction industry and different types of construction industry trades. The aim of this course is to provide you with a taster of different construction trades supporting you in identifying an area that you would like to specialise in. Along with your construction element, the programme will support in developing your English and maths skills and give opportunity to gain some work experience in one area of construction. The course consists of 13 units of knowledge & practical delivery. Practical workshops are designed to give you simulated activities, developing hand skills, and these are assessed as you progress through your qualification. Your knowledge is assessed on completion of individual units by way of online assessment. You will learn: - Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries - Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others - Knowledge of construction technology - Build a block wall - Build a brick wall - Construct wood working joints - Fit architrave & skirting - Fit ironmongery to an internal door - Apply paint to substrates - Prepare substrates for painting & decorating - Plaster walls - Tile walls - Develop customer relationships
