English and maths at level 2 (4/C or above) Honours Degree in teaching subject at 2.2 or higher 50 hours relevant teaching over each year of the course (100 in total)

Employment in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Once you have successfully completed your PGCE, you can apply to the Education and Training Foundation to complete the professional formation process which will give you Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. QTLS is recognised in law as equal to QTS for teaching in schools.
Additional Information
Wednesday morning 9.30 to 12.45, followed by an hour's tutorial slot to 1.45/2.00, or Wednesday evening classes 4.30 to 7.45 followed by an hour's tutorial slot to 8.45/9.00. Because of the nature of the course you must not have been previously excluded from teaching or working with young people. If you are planning or applying to work with young people under 18 or vulnerable adults you will need to seek enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) clearance. This should be done through your employer but in some cases may be done through the College. You may be required to pay the fee for this.
Participants will develop the professional and practical skills needed to become a teacher working in post-compulsory education, opening up employment opportunities in a wide range of organisations from general FE colleges to universities, prisons, businesses and the voluntary sector. The course will equip you with the professional knowledge and skills to work within this sector and adapt to organisational and policy change, it will also provide a base for your further personal and professional development. After completion of the course you will be able to apply for Qualified Teacher: Learning and Skills status (QTLS).
