19+ Advanced Learner Loans
If you are aged 19 and over and want to study a course at Level 3 or above, you can apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan which you won’t have to pay back until you’ve finished your course and are earning over £21,000 a year. If your loan is for an Access to Higher Education programme and you go on to a degree course, you won’t have to repay it at all.
To qualify, you’ll need:
- to be aged 19 or over at the start of your course
- to have been a resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of your course
- To enrol on a course at Level 3 or above, including A levels, Diplomas and Certificates, Advanced or Higher Apprenticeships or Access to Higher Education
The loans are not means tested or credit checked, and as long as you meet the criteria above, you can apply for a loan whether you’re employed or not. The loan will be paid to the College on your behalf.
