My experience at Barnfield has been a very positive one as it has provided me with a great opportunity to add another strand to my career options. Paul Finnegan a prospective new teacher, talks about his potential career change.
I have been fully employed as an Engineer for the past 17 years. I really enjoy working in the industry but recently there have been many changes and the emphasis has become less personal.
After contacting Barnfield College I discovered there was an initial teaching award called PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) which if I completed successfully at Level 4 would be the starting point of me being able to teach in the FE sector.
Doing the course has provided me with an insight into what it is like to teach. It has included lesson planning, some theory behind teaching and lots of interactive group work with my peers. We also delivered a 15 minute micro teaching slot to out peer group.
