Welcome to Governance at Barnfield College

At Barnfield College, our students are at the heart of everything we do. Our ultimate goal is to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to become successful in whatever they choose. Central to this, is developing a clear understanding of the expectations of employers across our region.

As governors, our ambition is to support our students, and our role is to agree the educational infrastructure and mission of the College, as well as its overall strategic direction.

Although our primary focus is the learning experience of our students, it’s also about ensuring the College assets – staff, facilities and finances – are sound and able to meet the needs of the employers and communities we serve.

Our College governors

Governors are volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds including education, business, law, local government and the not-for-profit sector.

College Principal, Tim-Eyton Jones, is joined at meetings by the vice-principals from the College Senior Leadership Team, as well as student and staff governors.

The main board meetings (known as Corporation Meetings) are held nine times a year. In addition, we have specialist committees that meet three times a year to discuss significant College activities, such as audits and search and governance.
